Drunk at Midnight

The radio is too loud,
the neighbors are pissed
The cat is confused
The door is left open,
the cold ignored,
insurmountable cigarettes burn
and ashtrays overflow,
phones beep
ring
vibrate
sing
(temporary lovers looking for their
occasional freebie).
The inaudible television plays infomercials,
while some noses run and most junkies sleep.
Mothers worry
Rocky Horror plays
the radio gets turned down

And then back up…

**poem by me and picture by Alycia Vreeland. Below is a link to my memoir that comes out next month but is available for preorder right now!
